Women’s shed almost finished
New life has been pumped into a couple of old dongas at the back of Marra Worra Worra’s Fitzroy Crossing depot with the aim of turning it into an attractive and well-resourced Women’s Centre.
Patto Green, Tommy Lunguna and Paul Bin Busu, under the eye of Fitzroy Contracting and Hire manager Dave Appleton, have transformed the structure through long hours of welding, building and plumbing.
They have come up with a fantastic louver system which catches the afternoon breezes and cools down what would normally be a very hot area, which keeping the area secure.
They replaced the gutters and downpipes, put on a new roof and ceiling, laid a new floor and have fitted out a new kitchen area and conference room, complete with air conditioning and whiteboard.
While they are still waiting for power to be connected, Dave says the project is on track and is rapt with the result.
“They’ve done a great job on this,” Dave said of his colleagues’ work.
